THE LADY WITH FANS

interactive installation

based on The Lady With Fans by Edouard Manet c.1873

The Lady With Fans was created with the intention of transforming an old painting into a living, moving and (almost) entirely painted performance, captured on film. The performance is a  lighthearted and atmospheric take on Manet's portrait of Nina de Callias. Every aspect of the painting, including the performer, has been painted to create an overall 'impressionist' look

During my final year exhibition at college, the film turned into an interactive installation, based inside the set. Technology designed by lucas allowed the viewers to watch in an entirely new way, as they picked up a fan, listened and were given instructions that would then trigger the playing of the film.

THE ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS TREE

INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION AND WORKSHOP

Co-designers: Phoebe Tonkin +  Lizzie French

Venue: Linbury Gallery, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama

We volunteered to design and make a festive installation as an 'alternative' answer to a Christmas tree. Designed as a huge linear cone, the tree was decorated with giant pom-poms created in workshops by students at the college. Passers by could walk inside the tree and look up at it to get adifferent perspective
